Jackquelyn Garrett (she/her) serves as a Program Manager supporting the Kresge Innovative Projects: Detroit (KIP: D) grantees. Jackquelyn is a proud native Detroiter and first-generation college graduate. Prior to joining MCR, Jackquelyn interned for a member of the Detroit City Council where she became passionate about the equitable expansion of opportunity for Detroiters. She later worked at the collective-impact initiative Detroit Drives Degrees (D3) at the Detroit Regional Chamber. While at D3, Jackquelyn led college access partners in the design and implementation of a two-year long grant to support schools and organizations in the tri-county to execute summer melt strategies. As a Challenge Detroit alumnus, Jackquelyn has also participated in a year-long multidisciplinary fellowship in which she collaborated with nonprofits to complete strategic projects designed to move their missions forward.
Jackquelyn earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Affairs at Wayne State University in 2019. In 2020, she earned a Front End Web Development Certificate from Grand Circus. In her free time, she reads any and all science-fiction and takes impromptu road trips.
